The Spencer Trappist brewery in Spencer, Massachusetts, launched their Spencer Trappist Ale in 75 cl bottles back in April. We at DrinkBelgianBeer.com finally got our hands on a bottle recently to taste. The larger bottle format can often lead to a more developed, mature beer over time, especially if a beer is bottle-conditioned with living yeast.
It’s hard to tell from tasting Spencer from a fresh bottle how the beer may change over time, but this beer was every bit as good as any of the 33 cl (11.2 US ounce) bottled versions we have tasted. Read more about Spencer Trappist Ale here.
Spencer is also now available in cases of 24 in the 33 cl bottle size, and cases of 12 of the 75 cl bottles, as well as on tap in 1/6 barrel size kegs.
