I was fortunate enough to visit the great Nüetnigenough in Brussels twice last month, and enjoy the great food, beers, and hospitality of co-owner Olivier Desmet.

Olivier is a huge beer lover, as anyone that visits his superb establishment will discover. He poured me and Stijn Van Houdt of Visit Flanders a very special dessert beer one night: Niks Meer Nodig from Brouwerij Alvinne. This is Alvinne’s description: “Morpheus dark gerijpt 5 maanden op bourbon vaten Dessertje’s bier pour le five anniversaire van Nüetnigenough.”

That means Morpheus Dark matured for 5 months in bourbon barrels for the fifth anniversary of Nüetnigenough. It’s a realllly good brew, very strong but with a lot of brett character. Unique, almost. If you make it this great bar restaurant, this is a must try. If any bottles remain, that is. Yep, it’s popular.
