If you are looking for a place to get hard to find Belgian beers and other beverages, glassware, cheeses, chocolates, pates, beer wear/clothing, breweriana and more, and have purchases shipped to your door, Belgium In A Box is the premier provider of such products and shipping services in Belgium. Belgiuminabox, also often known as BIAB among beer lovers, was founded by Kurt Verbiest in the city of Antwerp in 2012. Kurt worked at the specialist beer cafe, Het Elfde Gebod (“The Eleventh Commandment”) for eleven years before opening what started first as an on-line shop, and now is both that and a brick-and-mortar business just outside Antwerp.
Belgium In a Box offers a big selection of Belgian beers, from hard to find lambic brews (such as Cantillon, 3 Fonteinen and others) as well as Trappist brews. From the website: “Belgiuminabox aims to provide a service offering Belgian quality beers worldwide, paying special attention to difficult to find Belgian Trappists, aged and vintage Geuze, fruit-lambic ale, brewery glassware and pub-memorabilia.”
A recent offer on the BIAB blog is for 12 different Oude Gueuze beers in the 75 cl size, for 125 euros plus shipping. The beers are from Lindemans, De Troch, Timmermans, Girardin, De Cam, Oud Beersel, Dekoninck, Moriau, Boon, Cantillon, 3Fonteinen, and Hanssens. Note that the Dekoninck and Moriau beers, while brewed at Brouwerij Boon, are very distinctive and interesting brews, using different recipes than any of the other Boon beers. I have enjoyed these Oude Geuze brews on many occasions while in Belgium. See here for more info on this offer.
There’s more. Much more. If you are in Belgium, you can buy beer at 3 Fonteinen‘s lambik-o-droom shop in Lot, near Brussels (see here for more info) and leave it there, and have Belgiuminabox package and ship the beers home for you.
Also, if you are in Belgium and have beers that you have obtained during your trip (from any brewery) and want to have the beers shipped home for you, you can take your brews to the BIAB shop in Antwerp, and they can take care of all the packaging and shipping. The shop is open from 9 am to 6 pm, seven days a week. The address is: Clara Snellingsstraat 76, in Deurne, postal code 2100. This is east of the city and outside of its ring road, about a ten minute drive from Antwerp’s Central train station. You can take a taxi to the shop if you do not have a car. BIAB owner Kurt has even been known to pick up customers at Central Station and drive them to the shop and back, if time permits. The shop’s telephone number is 32 479 419 679. If you are calling from a Belgian phone, make that 0479 419 679.
“There are also plans in the works to add other breweries to the list of places where you can buy beer and leave it, and have Belgiuminabox pick it up, pack and ship it for you,” Kurt told me recently. “We are also working with some other beer shops where you can buy beer at their shop, leave it, and we can pick it up and ship it for you. Look for more information about this on our blog at in the future,” he added. See here for the BIAB blog.
Belgiuminabox has a solid reputation as an honest and reliable seller and shipper in the beer world. Also, the fact that Brouwerij 3 Fonteinen allows them to provide shipping services to their customers is as big a vote of confidence that any business could have.
Shipping costs vary depending on destination. See website for details or send a mail to: email@example.com. If you want to have beer shipped home that you bought somewhere other than the BIAB shop, BIAB’s packing fees are as follows:
Here is more from Belgiuminabox and Kurt about their shipping services: “Together with the customer, BIAB is always trying to optimize the weight of the shipment to maximize capacity so that the available space and weight is used optimally. This lowers the overall costs of the items shipped to customer’s homes. Also, the package tracking information is mailed as soon as the customer has paid for their purchase, and the bottles are then packed and made ready for shipment. Belgiuminabox provides all necessary communication and feedback to the customer during the process. Communicating with the customer is something that Belgiuminabox finds very important.”
