Brouwerij 3 Fonteinen‘s excellent beers are in high demand these days, as more and more people are drinking lambic brews, and want to taste among the best that Belgium has to offer. As more and more visitors find their way to the brewery’s new site in Lot, Belgium, called De lambik-O-droom (see the article for more details) and taste the superb beers of the “Three Fountains” brewery, the higher the demand increases for these brews.
Getting ahold of the smaller batch 3 Fonteinen beers is getting more and more difficult, as most are sold from the brewery shop in Lot, or at a few select shops and cafes in Belgium.
Belgium in a Box, Belgium’s premier gourmet on-line shop for beer and many other Belgian products, has put together a very interesting variety pack of 3 Fonteinen beers that includes the following:
12 x 3 Fonteinen Oude Geuze (new logo) Season 16-17 75 cl
1 x 3 Fonteinen Hommage Season 16-17 75 cl
1 x 3 Fonteinen Oude Geuze Cuvée Armand & Gaston Season 16-17 1.5 L
1 x 3 Fonteinen Tuverbol 2017 37.5 cl
1 x 3 Fonteinen Oude Kriek 2016 75 cl
1 x 3 Fonteinen Oude Kriek 2015 37.5 cl
1 x 3 Fonteinen Oude Geuze Armand & Gaston 16-17 37.5 cl
There are only 24 of these variety packs available. This one is not likely to last very long.

The new label 3 Fonteinen Oude Geuze is a blend of lambics from 3 Fonteinen, Boon, and Lindemans. I visited the brewery last November, and can attest to the high quality of this blend, all from lambics aged in 3 Fonteinen barrels.
The 2016-2017 Hommage is a blend of lambics macerated with raspberries and cherries. This is a superb batch, among the best that 3 Fonteinen has produced. In the past, this brew was produced only about every 2 or 3 years. It is rarely available at the brewery shop, and tends to sell out quickly when it is on offer.
The 3 Fonteinen Oude Geuze Cuvée Armand & Gaston Season 16-17 is a blend of lambics all brewed at 3 Fonteinen’s brewery in Beersel. All the wort for the Cuvée Armand & Gaston blends sat overnight in 3 Fonteinen’s double-decker coolship before being pumped into their own barrels the next day in Lot, at De lambik-O-droom, four km away. This Magnum bottle should have great aging potential. While you are aging the big bottle, you can drink the small one included in this pack.
Tuverbol is a beer that is a blend of 3 Fonteinen lambic with Loterbol Blond from Brouwerij Loterbol. Brouwerij Loterbol is located in Diest, east of Leuven, and is a brewery with two brewhouses, one old and one newer. Owner Marc Beirens has been very good friends with Armand Debelder of 3 Fonteinen for many years, and Loterbol is a result of their friendship. The Loterbol brewery cafe is open only the first Saturday of each month, from 4 pm-midnight. Tuverbol has always been one of my favorite blends of lambic with a top fermented ale, with medium tartness, a fine complexity, and that hides its 9% alcohol very well. This brew will be very hard to find outside the better cafes and shops in Belgium.
The 3 Fonteinen Oude Kriek (vintage 2015 and 2016) is a blend of lambics from 3 Fonteinen’s barrels, macerated with cherries from Eastern Europe. These are also not easy to find outside Belgium.
This should be a great variety pack for any lambic lovers out there!
